Environment Management
Components

A comprehensive approach focused on decoding the
cause-and-effect of environmental impacts prescribes the management of the
degrading the physical environment, depleting resources, reduction, mitigation,
conservation, protection, minimization of resources and ecosystems, and control
of risks impacts and hazards span the gamut of environmental management.
We assist in addressing the regulatory demands
systematically and cost-effectively, reducing the risks of non-compliance, and
improving health and safety practices for all the stakeholders. In addition, we
go beyond compliance and assist in non-regulated issues, such as energy
conservation, improving environmental performance, increase efficiencies, and
resource conservation. We also create synergies globally to enhance
technological innovations and adaptations.
Environment Assessments
Environmental Assessments
ensure the much needed enforcement of the regulatory approvals to certify the
environmental and social sustainability of a project and minimize impacts.
Our approach lies in
safeguarding the environmental, social, and governance bottom line of any
project. We assist in identifying and managing environmental impacts, risks,
hazards, environmental monitoring, and making environment management plans.
Our team has proven
expertise in conducting environmental safeguard studies, environmental
assessments, preparation of EMPs, compliance assessment, and environmental
monitoring plans. In addition, we are conversant with the various frameworks
and guidelines of ADB, World Bank, IFC, and Indian Regulation.
We have been working on
various environment management components in developmental projects; tunnels,
highways, railways, waste management, urban cities, public health facilities,
industrial waste sites, etc.
Strategic Brokering
To co-exist in this complex world and that too with harmony it makes
sense to leverage each other’s advantages. By this, not only are the resources
optimized, but the knowledge pool is also enhanced, and technology edge is
gained.
We fully understand the importance of knowledge brokering to improve the
development process. We help in collaborating with experts and specialists,
build knowledge platforms, technical capacity building, evaluate technologies,
transfer innovative and sophisticated technologies, and leverage developmental
networks and associations.
We assist in building technical relationships, collaborations, and
capacity building. We are members of ISWA (International Solid Waste
Association) and assess global technologies and practices in solid waste
management. We have assisted a renowned Japanese engineering consulting company
in developing business in India. In addition, we provide technical assistance
in conducting specialized environmental and sustainability events.
Impact Assessment and
Monitoring & Evaluation
One of the fundamental drawbacks of the
developmental process is the unaccountability of the resources consumed and the
absence of the sustainability alignment. Impact assessment is a continuous
process to evaluate the pre and post impacts of a project with specific
metrics. It helps in course correction of a project from assessing the proper
utility of funds in meeting the desired objectives.
ICUC conducts Impact Assessments to
understand and communicate to the relevant stakeholders the tangible and
intangible impacts of the project on the beneficiaries. We assess the concept,
design elements, implementation and outcomes of the project/programme, identify
the gaps and provide an action plan to enhance benefits to the community and
environment. Such an assessment equips the funding agency as well as the
implementing agency to manage and use their resources as effectively &
efficiently as possible and maximise the positive impact of their work.
The progress and success of
projects/programme/initiative is equally vital to its long-term sustainability
too; thus comprehensive Monitoring & Evaluation of the projects becomes
essential. We offer our proficiency during and after program roll out
(monitoring), as well as measuring outcomes, impact, and effectiveness of
programmes (evaluation) by providing services like impact and outcome
evaluations, performance assessments, monitoring/performance frameworks,
capacity building, fully compliant reports, and database design.
Environmental and
Social Due Diligence
Often neglected and least prioritized considerations in the
developmental projects are their environment and social impacts. This has led
to a downfall of many a project. A timely and careful examination of the
assumptions underlying existing and potential environmental and social risks,
impacts and liability estimates can yield beneficial results.
Environmental and Social Due Diligence (EDD)ensures that all such
impacts are of the project are thoroughly investigated helps in the investment
decision making process of the buyers, investors, and lenders.
It is a significant part of the mergers and acquisition process as well
as other investment opportunities and addresses Environmental, Health and
Safety (EHS), energy, social, and sustainability issues.
ICUC conducts ESG – DDs and validates against the mandatory regulation,
frameworks including the IFC (Environmental and Social) Guidelines & the
World Bank EHS Guidelines. They assess the extent to which the project
proponent has made environment and social disclosures on his project and their
engagement and consultation with Affected Communities.
Various components covered during the due diligence are:
- Site investigation and assessments
- Review of all relevant environmental, social, and health and safety Project documents and information
- Review of environmental permits/licenses/NoCs and associated applications, EHSS/ESG Policy at Corporate and Project level
- Review of environmental and social management plans, health and safety plan
- Stakeholder consultations
- Finalization of the investment making decision
